As home entertainment and information centres become an evermore-integral part of the modern home, the experience of TV screens themselves must be reformulated to fit their omnipresent role in contemporary life.
Inspired by the Greek theatres of antiquity, the AmphiTheatre is a 360 degree design: a discrete, architectural sculpture that can be admired from any angle. In contrast to the pervasive plastic of contemporary TV design, the quality of the materials, finish, detailing and colours are reminiscent of the best international furniture.
The hallmark wooden back panel traces its roots back to the original furniture cabinetry of early televisions, synthesizing and integrating the elegance of classical furniture with the fascination for technology to make this leading-edge TV a natural part of a home furnishing.
Concept:
AmphiTheatre is an integrated AV wall, presenting sound and image together in an ideal form and format. Technically, the all-aluminium TV cabinet is an innovation in TV-design. Functionally, AmphiTheatre is an integrated, plug & play unit with complete cable management. Style-wise , the TV and speaker grille are available in different colour combinations, and the back-panel of can be ordered in a range of different materials and colours to fit the taste of different users, or requirements of different environments. We also paid special attention to cable-management designing the back panel for easy access to the concealed connector and service area.
Picture:
AmphiTheatre has an extremely high definition picture. A remote controlled, motorized rotating base angles the screen toward the viewing position. A glowing zone around the screen, created by rows of ambient-light sensitive LED's between the screen and the back panel, give it a floating effect and a pleasant viewing ambience for the eyes by softening the contrast between the TV and the dark space surround it. A special feature we developed is "screen-black", a feature corresponding to the "mute" function for sound, so one can blackout pictures one does not wish to view, such as commercials, or offensive or frightening images.
Sound:
Finally, as cinema-lovers know, the secret of the "wide-screen experience" is big sound. AmphiTheatre has an integrated, but separate, wooden hi-fi speaker system under the screen with performance comparable with that of a quality audio system, while the motorized rotating base angles the TV toward the viewer for an ideal stereo experience.
